Our Standards. Our Why.
Sometimes Moving Forward Means Looking Back
This photo is my great-grandparents’ grocer shop.
Back then, food wasn’t about margins or marketing, it was about feeding your family properly.
That’s still our starting point.
Before labels, trends, or clever wording, food had a job to do: to nourish, to sustain, and to be trusted.
That simple idea guides everything we do today
A Small Example of a Bigger Problem
We live in an age where even a clementine can be unsuitable for vegetarians, not because it’s fruit, but because of what’s applied to it after harvest.
That’s a small example of a much bigger problem.
We wanted better for our families, food we didn’t have to question, and choices we felt good about sharing with the people around us. That’s why knowing where food comes from, how it’s handled, and who stands behind it matters so much to us.
WHY RIVERFORD
Riverford fits that ethos.
They’re farmer-owned, organic, and unapologetically committed to growing food the right way, without toxic pesticides, herbicides, or shortcuts that damage soil and ecosystems.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention.
It’s food we’re genuinely happy to feed our own families, and that matters.
Our Standards: From Farm to You
Good food deserves to be treated properly all the way through the journey.
That’s why we care deeply about:
How food is handled
How it’s stored
How it’s delivered
Freshness, temperature control, minimal waste, and respect for the product aren’t optional, they’re part of the responsibility that comes with choosing better food in the first place.
If we wouldn’t accept it for our own table, it doesn’t belong on yours.
Our Approach to Handling Food
When it comes to food, boundaries matter.
All Riverford produce is handled as human food, because that’s exactly what it is.
To maintain the highest standards:
Riverford produce is managed by a separate team
Stored in dedicated, clearly segregated storage
Handled independently from any raw pet food production
Never mixed, crossed, or shared across processes
This separation isn’t a formality, it’s a principle.
It ensures that human food remains human food, handled with the care, hygiene, and respect it deserves, from delivery through to collection.
Clear systems. Clear standards. No compromises.
